Wednesday Bible Fellowship for Women

Like all the other pastoral groups, my pastoral group Faith, has been studying Rick Warren’s book the Purpose Driven Life since the beginning of this year. From the study early this year I was challenged to meet the needs of others. In another passage Rick Warren stressed the importance of small groups within the church community. He said the small groups were like life boats attached to the ocean liner.

For some time now I have been aware of a number of women in our church who for one reason or another are unable to attend night meetings in the small groups. Then there were the women who having completed Christianity Explained classes, were looking for a women’s group within BGC. Unfortunately there were none suited to their needs. With this in mind the Faith Pastoral group started praying for the needs of these women to be met in BGC.

As the months went by and we continued praying in our weekly meetings, the Lord began to reveal to me in many ways that a new women’s Bible fellowship group is to be started in BGC to take place in the morning.

The aim would be:

• to spur one other towards love and good deeds as well as to encourage one another (Hebrews 10:24-25).
• to sing songs of praise, to pray for and confess our sins to one another (James 5:13-16).
• to build up God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built-up (Ephesians 4:12).
• to study the Word of God and how to apply it (Hebrews 12-13), so that we may present everyone perfect in Christ (Colossians 1:28).
• to fellowship with one another (Acts 2:42).
• the more mature women to train up the younger ones (Titus 2:3-5).

This meeting is to take place in the homes of members so that we may practice hospitality (Romans 12:13).

I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ (Philemon 6).

My purpose is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. (Colossians 2:2-3)
